The International Forum on Innovative Planning Education & Studio Exhibition took place this summer in the College of Plannnig and Design at the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) ¬†in Tainan, South-West Taiwan. the conference brought together several planning and design schools (University of the West of England, University of California, Tokyo University, Manchester, Washington University and TU Delft) to discuss the challenges of planning and design education in today’s globalized world.

iCities is a platform for international interactions in planning and design  education, coordinated by NCKU. It intends to discuss planning education pedagogy and to promote exchanges between students of the various schools involved.

The conference was attended by Professor Vincent Nadin, Roberto Rocco (assistant professor), Dena Kasraian (PhD candidate at OTB-SPS) and Hanne van den Berg (consultant and former student of Complex Cities). Roberto Rocco talked about the challenges of planning education in a globalized world. Dena and Hanne presented their graduation projects and talked about education at TU Delft.

The event congregated around 100 teachers and students during two days in Tainan. The banyan tree of the photograph is the symbol of NCKU and symbolizes growth, sustainability and respect for the environment.
